A finely detailed painting of the River Lune in autumn. Presented in a wash line mount and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Monogrammed to the lower-right corner. The title and name of the artist are printed on the lower edge of the mount. Labels on verso. On watercolour paper.Condition
There is some mild foxing and discolouration. There are some slight scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Robert Rampling (1836-1909) was an English painter. He was born in Liverpool the son of a Preston architect but lived and worked in nearby Lancaster. A self-taught artist, but he did go to London to enhance his artistic skills but continued living and painting in or around Lancaster and a neighbouring business, Price & Son, reproduced many of his paintings as postcards. He exhibited regularly at the Storey Institute Art Gallery, Lancaster in 1891, 1894, 1895, and 1908 and examples of his work are in the Lancaster City & Maritime Museum.
