ROBERT MORLEY RBA1857-1941. Painter of animal subjects, landscapes, genre and historical subjects. Lived in Frensham, Surrey and Stroud, Gloucestershire. Son of Professor Henry Morley, LLD. Educated at the Slade School under Pynter and Legros, and afterwards at Munich and Rome. Was Slade Scholar and Painting Medallist. Exhib. from 1879, at the RA from 1884, SS and elsewhere. At first he largely exhib. figure subjects but after 1888 turned to animal painting and landscape. RBA 1889; Hon. Sec. RBA and subsequently Hon. Treasurer 1890-6.
