Description
A thoroughly charming and decoratively sized early 19th Century oil, showing an atmospheric moonlit coastal scene with sailing boats on the water and the silhouette of a man and dog in the foreground. A tiny pinprick of orange light can be seen coming from a distant silhouetted lighthouse. The painting is unsigned and presented in a fine 19th Century gilt frame. There is a handwritten label at the reverse by the artist with a dedication that is mainly illegible. The artist has dated and signed to the reverse. On wood panel.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are some substantial scratches across the lower half of the panel. The frame has some surface losses and tarnishing.
