A fascinating late Victorian sketch of Dover Harbour, dated October 1890. In the foreground, figures gather along the beach - some seated on picnic blankets, others accompanied by dogs - capturing a leisurely moment by the sea. Beyond them, the harbour is alive with activity, steam and sailing vessels moving steadily in and out to open water. The scene offers a vivid glimpse of turn-of-the-century life, set against a period of rapid change and maritime energy. Signed with initials and dated lower right. On paper laid to card.
Condition
Light foxing to the paper. Some marks and minor discolouration to the paper. The artwork is in good condition for its age.
