Artist Biography
Richard Rhead Simm was born in England in 1926. An artist with a natural talent, he developed steadily from painting figures and battle scenes to seascapes and finally landscapes. He worked for the Royal Doulton Porcelain factory painting dinnerware and this encouraged his finely painted style.
Painting on copper, Richard Simm achieves a highly finished effect and his love for the English landscape is shown to the full with his scenes of water mills, rivers, and thatched cottages in both winter and summer, depicting the countryside with a keen nostalgia.
