This atmospheric landscape study depicts a windswept tree clinging to a rocky outcrop, its dark silhouette dramatically contrasted against a luminous early morning sky. The composition leads the eye from the rugged foreground terrain through the gnarled tree towards distant blue mountains. Presented in a gilt-effect frame. The work is signed twice to the lower right and dated 1980 and 1990, suggesting the artist returned to the piece at the later date. On canvas.
Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals several areas of previous restoration. There is minor undulation to the canvas and light wear to the gilt-effect frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition.
