Artist Biography
Richard Henry Wright was a London based painter, who trained to be a chemist and later studied art at Heatherley's. His work was mainly of atmospheric topographical subjects in watercolour and oil, and he travelled widely on the Continent and in the Middle East. He exhibited the results of his journeys from 1885 at such leading venues as the Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He also had a number of solo shows with Walker's Gallery and was married to the still life and genre painter Catherine M Wood.
