Description
A finely detailed and atmospherically coloured gouache view across a curving continental coastline, with a large town of grand houses and churches (possibly Swedish) nestled in the trees that cover the rising land mass. Coastal flowers can be seen in the foreground. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right corner and the painting has been presented in an early 20th Century burr wood veneer frame with gilt slip and card mount. On paper.Condition
In fine condition. Minor loss to the burr wood veneer at the upper left corner of the frame.

Artist Biography
Richard Golding Constable was a painter born in Lewes, Sussex the great-great grandson of John Constable. Educated at Marlborough College, Millfield School and at Cambridge, he followed his father into the military and served in the Korean War as a Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery. Raised on a Devonshire farm he became an accomplished naturalist and in 1945 he won an art scholarship to Marlborough College. He later taught art for many years at Saxmundham in Suffolk. Constable held solo exhibitions in East Anglia and in London and was a member of the Ipswich Art Club. He work is largely composed of gouache mixed occasionally with watercolour.
