Description

A very fine study of a Nuthatch resting on a silver birch tree, from listed artist Rex Grattan Flood (1928-2009). Painted on card laid on board. Finely presented in a gilt frame with ribbon moulding and a hessian slip. Signed.

Condition

Small losses to the bottom left and right of frame. Very minor loss to inner gilt mount to lower right (see photos). Otherwise in excellent condition.

Artist Biography

Rex Flood (1928-2009) was an aviation and wildlife artist, who spent 22 years in the RAF. He lived in Norfolk for a number of years, where he began painting dogs, horses and, particularly, birds, with meticulous attention to detail. Latterly he lived in Yorkshire, where he died in 2009.
