Description

Reginald E. Edgecombe - Original Early 20th Century Watercolour. Signed. There are remnants below the signature of a previous mount, which does not affect the image.

Reginald Edgecombe (1885-1966) was admitted to the local Art School at eleven years old, winning numerous prizes, and qualified at 18 for the Slade Art School, but was forced to leave and obtain employment at Ostlers of Birmingham, manufacturers of high class light fittings, due to his father's death. He became chief designer, his work including amongst others, the ballroom at Buckingham Palace. As well as continuing his artworks and designing, he also became a member of the British Olympic Team for gymnastics in 1920, at the age of 35.
