A striking ink study by the artist Reginald Brill (1902-1974) depicting a reclining nude lady. The artist expertly uses hatching to create this wonderfully tonal piece and captures the subject's form in fine detail. Artwork by Brill is held by Tate Britain and UCL Art Museum, amongst others. Signed and dated to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On paper.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration and light foxing. Minor wear to the frame.

Artist Biography

Reginald Brill (1902-1974) was a watercolourist and fine draughtsman of landscapes, figure studies and portraits. Born in London, Brill studied at the Slade School and later St Martin’s. He exhibited at the RA, Leicester Galleries and in East Anglia, where he lived, at Lavenham.
