Reginald B Davis - Original 1971 Gouache. Original artwork from "Once Upon a Time", no 142 (30 October 1971). Unsigned. On board. In fine condition.

Reginald Ben Davis had a lengthy career at Amalgamated Press and Fleetway Publications as one of their top illustrators. Born in Wandsworth on 10 December 1907, it seems likely that Davis began his commercial career in around 1930 and it is known that he was represented by Byron Studios prior to the Second World War. He died in December 1998 in Alton, Hampshire.

Collection Information

From a collection of original children’s magazine artwork dated from the 1970’s to 1980’s. These include natural history illustrations from ‘Look & Learn’, ‘Once Upon a Time’, ‘World of Knowledge’ etc. Artists include R. B Davis, Clive Upton and Arthur Oxenham.
