Original Early 19th Century Tea Caddy. This once was a very fine tea caddy. Sarcophagus shape with typical Regency brass inlay. The escutcheon would originally have been brass, but has been replaced with mother of pearl. One of the original brass handles has lost its ring. Considerable amounts of brass stringing and corner inlay have been lost. There are 5 long pieces of the original brass lose inside the caddy but I don't think it is enough to do all the repairs. The two mahogany lidded tea containers are original but the mixing bowl is a (poor) replacement. Lock and hinges are original. No key. This is a very fine box and would amply reward restoration. 32 x 17 x 17 cm.
