A rich and charismatic etching depicting the original 'Old Curiosity Shop', as popularised and written about by Charles Dickens.
This atmospheric etching has strong plate lines and is signed and inscribed in graphite. Well presented in a Hogarth frame with a white laid mount.

There are some minor losses to the edge of the frame.

Robert Linnell Armitage (1898-1972) was a little-known painter and etcher, born in Northwich, Cheshire. He attended Manchester School of Art and showed at the RSA, RCA, and in the North of England. After World War II he appears to have joined the church becoming a Minister in the Scottish Episcopal Church. Soon after he left for Canada and died in Vancouver.
