Description

Prue Sapp - Large Original Mid 20th Century Oil. Beautiful use of thick oil paint application that accentuates the textures of the rock face and the verdant mountains. We acquired a collection of oil paintings from her studio sale. Many are signed and all are unquestionably by her hand. Signed. On board. A small portion of paint is chipped towards centre right as pictured.

Prue Sapp (1928-2013). London-born Sapp was educated at Benenden School, Kent, and then the English School of Languages, Chaeau d’Oex, Switzerland. She studied at Epsom School of Art, attending her husband Reg Sapp’s portrait class for seven years. They met in Provence on a course directed by Peter Garrard. Prue Sapp was a member of the Chelsea Art Society. She first had her work hung in Mall Galleries in a SWA show in 1974 and became a full-time painter in 1986, also exhibiting at Wykeham Galleries, Bourne Gallery in Reigate, NEAC, ROI and RA. Solo shows included Charlotte Lampard Gallery and Hyde Park Gallery from 1991.
