Description
A charming provincial portrait in watercolours depicting two young siblings. The girl wears a pale blue off-the-shoulder dress with short puffed sleeves, lace trim at the hem, and black flat shoes. Her dark hair falls in ringlets. The boy is dressed in a plaid jacket with a lace collar, white trousers, and black flat shoes. He rests his arm on his sister's shoulder in an affectionate pose. The work is well presented in a glazed rosewood frame. Illegibly signed to the lower left and dated 1852. On paper.Condition
The artwork exhibits signs of wear consistent with age. There is light foxing and even discolouration to the paper. The frame has minor surface wear, including small chips and scuffs. Overall, the artwork presents in good condition.
