Artist Biography

Pietro Giacinto Angelo Sansalvadore, known as Piero, was born in Turin, Italy, and gained recognition as an artist and printmaker. Largely self-taught, he exhibited both in his native country and in the United Kingdom, with shows at the Royal Academy, the Fine Art Society, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, and the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. A pencil self-portrait by Sansalvadore is held in the Tate Gallery archive. He died in Turin.
