Artist Biography

The French painter and draughtsman Pierre Neveu (b.1929) began his studies at the École Boulle in Paris, before continuing at the National School of Fine Arts and the Studio of Maurice Brianchon. Later, he became Professor of Drawing, City of Paris in 1953. His work centres first and foremost on compositional form, drawing outwardly from this into riotous jewel tones, captured with a particular vibrancy of palette. His collection also includes early architectural works and schematic studies, as well as many drawings and academic classical studies. Neveu exhibited widely across France, including at the Salon d’Automne and the Salon of French Artists, where he became President of the painting section. Among many other awards, he was the recipient of the 1994 Gold Medal award at the Salon of French Artists.
