Philippe Joseph Tassaert - Original 18th Century Mezzotint. Inscribed in the plate: "P J Tassaert invent & fecit". On laid. The sheet has been trimmed to the plate. Tipped onto backing card. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and a mark lower centre as shown.Painter and mezzotint-engraver (1736-1803). Born in Antwerp, died Dean Street, London. In London between 1769 and 1785 and 1791 and 1803; 1785-1790 in Rome. From 1775-77 President of the Society of Artists in London; also worked as an agent for Christie's.Size
