Painter, printmaker and commercial artist ne Ernest Philip Pimlott was born in Stoke Damerel, Devon. Although the 1891 census records him as an art student living in Newington, London no detail of his art education is known. He began exhibiting in the early 1890's and subsequently showed his work at the Royal Academy, New English Art Club, and at the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers who elected him an Associate in 1901. He contributed an ink drawing to The Yellow Book and drew advertising graphics for the London Midland & Scottish Railway. He was the father of artist John Richmond Pimlott and he died in Dulwich Hospital, London.
