Painter, lithographer and etcher born in Worcester. Ward studied at Bournemouth School of Art, 1903 (later to become known as Bournemouth & Poole College of Art) where he was later to teach for many years. He depicted mainly English landscapes but also architectural subjects, he is perhaps best known for his studies of the docks, warehouses and landscapes of the area around Poole, and for this reason, his name is always associated with Dorset.He also briefly attended the RA Schools and won Gold Medals in National Competitions 1909-10. Elected an Associate of the RE in 1916, and RE in 1936. Moffat Ward held his first solo exhibition in Bournemouth in 1930 and others followed at the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne and at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.
