Artist Biography

Painter, illustrator and teacher. Born in Leicester he studied at Leicester Art College under John Frederick Pettinger and George Ingles, 1915-20. Priestley went on to teach at Maidenhead School of Art and while in that town drew cartoons for the local newspaper. He exhibited at the RBA, RI, and RA and passed many summers in Cornwall producing a series of watercolours around the Cornish coast during the 1940's and 50's. Examples of his work are in the collections of Leicester City Gallery and Nottingham Castle Museum where he also exhibited.
