Peter Oliver (1927-2006) was a painter and printmaker, born in Jersey, Channel Islands. He started painting during a prolonged illness and went on to study first at Exeter under Clifford Fishwick, where he gained his Diploma in Painting and then took Postgraduate studies at Liverpool. His first solo exhibition was at the Redfern Gallery, London, 1955 where he continued to exhibit for nearly a decade. He also showed at the RBA, LG, New Art Centre, London, University of Keele, Mercury Gallery, London, Hamet Gallery, London, Business Design Centre, London and during the 1990’s with Anthony Hepworth Fine in Bath.
Examples of his work are held in the Barclays Bank, CAS, Courtauld Institute, GAC, Kirklees Museums and Galleries, Leicestershire County Council, Jersey Heritage, Loughborough University, Manchester City Art Gallery, Newnham College, Cambridge, Nuffield Foundation, Tate Gallery and in various
