Artist Biography
Painter, etcher and printmaker born at Southend-on-Sea, Essex, who studied at Suffolk College of Art and the Colchester School of Art but is largely self-taught. He has shown throughout East Anglia and London and employs a variety of media in his which includes still life, landscape and figures and has also had work published on greeting cards. A one-time Honorary Treasurer for the Ipswich Art Club his exhibitions include group shows at the Mall Galleries, Snape Maltings Gallery, Aldeburgh, Gomshall Gallery, Surrey, Drury Lane Gallery, London, Nevill Gallery, Canterbury, Kent, The Discerning Eye and in 2000 at the Clairmonte Gallery, Brighton, Sussex. McCarthy has also held solo shows at John Russell Gallery, Ipswich.
