Peter Donnithorne - Original Mid 20th Century Oil. In an ornate wooden frame. Item comes accompanied with a statement from the Pelter/Sands Gallery in Bristol verifying the painting, and a catalogue of Donnithorne's 1981 solo exhibition at the same gallery. Artwork is likely to have been created circa the mid to late 1970s. Signed. On canvas on stretchers. In fine condition.

Born in 1933 in London, Peter Donnithorne began painting at the age of 12 and studied at a London School of Art. He served in the Royal Navy for twenty years and from 1951 to 1975 painted landscapes in oils, specialising in Horse and Hound. In 1976 Peter exhibited in Chipping Sodbury and joined a well-known Bristol art gallery, he is recognised as a painter of the 'Bristol Scene', with emphasis on the Avon Gorge and the City waterways.
