Paul Garfunkel (1900 - 1981) was a French engineer and painter. He studied engineering at the École Polytechnique de Paris before moving to Brazil in 1927. In 1950 whilst based in Curatiba he dedicate himself exclusively to painting after which he travelled through several Brazilian states to portray the colourful daily life of the cities in which he visited and edited two albums: Images du Brésil ( 1958 ) and Nouvelles Images du Brésil ( 1962 ). He also participated in several Art Salons in Brazil and exhibited his works in Paris and Antwerp.
