An original oil by Belgian artist Oswald Poreau (1877–1955) depicting a skilled labourer at the National Factory of Weapons of War, FN Herstal, the Belgian arms manufacturer founded in 1889 near Liège. Rendered in loose, impressionistic brushstrokes, Poreau captures the atmospheric quality of the industrial interior. Presented in a distressed gilt-effect frame. Signed lower left. With original inscriptions, provenance letter and date label verso. On canvas baord.
Condition
Minor abrasions to the surface of the painting. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Light surface wear and scuffs to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
