From a collection of fine paintings, drawings and etchings by the accomplished British artist Oliver Hall RA. Most works are signed however all are by the same hand.
Oliver Hall (1869–1957) was a landscape painter and etcher, particularly of rugged moorland and Spanish subjects. He studied at the Royal College of Art, and later attended evening classes at Westminster and Lambeth Schools of Art. Hall was much influenced by the Liverpool painter Daniel Alexander Williamson, and spent some months working with him at Williamson's home in Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria. He travelled extensively, including in Spain, France, and Italy. Hall began exhibiting etchings at the Royal Academy in 1890 and was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1895 and an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1920.
His first solo exhibition was held at the Dowdeswells Gallery, London, in 1898. He was also a member of the Society of Twenty-Five Painters. Hall's work can be found in the collections of the Aberdeen Art Gallery, Brighton and Hove Museums and Art Galleries, and Tate Gallery, amongst others.
