This delightful portrait depicts a man called Albert Bateson, a frequent sitter for Bagshaw in the late 1960's and 70's. In this study she captures him against a blue background looking into the distance with a thoughtful expression. Signed and dated to the lower right. Presented in a wooden frame with gilt details. On canvas.

This painting itself is in fine condition. There are some minor marks to the frame.

Olive Bagshaw was born in Lancashire, England and studied portrait painting at Regional College of Art in Manchester. Her work was exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Federation of British Artists.
