Nocolas Toussaint Charlet (1792-1845) of Paris was a painter, draughtsman and lithographer who distinguished himself in the Napoleonic War defending the Barriere of Clichy. He studied under Gros and glorified the deeds of the Napoleonic regime in his art. He opposed the monarchy. He was one of the prime movers behind the July revolution of 1830. In 1838 he became professor of drawing at the Ecole Polytechnique. As an artist he is best known for his lithographs and drawings. he was prolific. his works are in the Louvre and many French provincial museums.
