Nicolas Dorigny after Raphael - Original 18th Century Engraving. Fixed at the corners to backing paper. Engraved after Raphael's original 1515 series of painted designs for tapestries, 'The Raphael Cartoons', commissioned by Pope Leo X for the Sistine Chapel. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, age toning and light foxing. An area of restoration to the upper right sky. Losses to lower left corner and lower right corner is torn where originally fixed to backing paper. Other surface losses which have been restored and text re-written in pen. Trimmed within plate margins.
