Newton Benett (1854-1914) was a painter, born in London, whose main works were landscapes and architectural subjects. He studied under P.J. Naftel and exhibited at the leading London galleries from 1875, chiefly the RA, RBA, RI, and Grosvenor Gallery. He lived at Lyndhurst in Hampshire and later at Dorchester-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.
