Born in Bristol, England, Sparks studied at the Bristol School of Art before continuing his training at the Royal College of Art in London, where he developed a lifelong interest in the expressive potential of printmaking. Over his career, he became a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers (R.E.), exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy and other major galleries. His work often reflected the quiet beauty of everyday life, rendered with technical precision and a keen sense of atmosphere.
