Description

An interior scene in a tavern in the manner of the Dutch artist David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690), the most famous 17th-century painter of peasant life. A woman gazes with a comic rage through a window towards a man, presumably her husband, flirting with a young woman. Presented in an ornate pierced gilt-effect wooden frame with a green velvet slip. Unsigned. On panel.

Condition

Inspection under UV light reveals some small areas of restoration to the background. There is some stable craquelure and some mild surface scuffs at the upper and right edges.
