A charmingly quaint oil depiction of Mickleham in Surrey. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right corner and the painting has been presented in a fine 20th Century French style frame with acanthus leaf details at the swept corners. There is a Bourlet & Sons framer's label to the reverse and the artist has signed and inscribed the location at the back of the board. On board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography
Myles Meehan, born in Darlington, County Durham in 1904, was a noted artist in England, especially from the 1940’s onward. Much of his work depicts the social and industrial life of England during the 1950’s.
He was a prominent member of the Croydon Arts Society. He made a bequest of a number of artworks to Darlington Borough Collection and provision was made for a Trust Fund to promote the development of the visual arts in the Darlington area. Housed within the Darlington Arts Centre is an art gallery known as the Myles Meehan Gallery.
