Description
A busy continental street scene in watercolours by the female artist Miriam Mabel Hooper (1872 to 1953). Cafés and awnings run along a terrace of tall shuttered buildings to the left, and heavy summer foliage arches overhead from the trees on the right. Figures gather at pavement tables, a motor car waits at the kerb and a laden horse-drawn cart stands in the sunlit road. The handling is loose and fluid, with soft greens and greys set against warm ochres and touches of red. The work is signed to the lower left and is well presented in a gilt-effect frame. On paper.Condition
Minor discolouration to the watercolour and light wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
