An exquisite mid 19th Century miniature portrait in watercolour, showing a pretty, curly haired young woman with elaborate blue ribbon and lace bonnet, in profile. The artist's use of minuscule individual brush strokes to build up tone and form, is typical of the era but also shows a superior hand in the medium. Sulis Fine Art acquired this portrait along with three others by the same hand, of the other members of this woman's family. The two children and the husband all have their own separate portraits, the children and mother facing to the left, the father facing to the right, so that, when displayed together, they would be looking at their father/husband and he at his family. The painting has been presented in a very fine early 20th Century brass frame with fan shaped detailing at the corners and a card mount.. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has some tarnishing.
