A crisp and accomplished watercolour painting by Mike Hendy, depicting the popular British holiday destination of Scarborough. A large fishing boat captures your attention in the centre of the composition, with Horace Cherrys seaside arcade open on the right-hand side. The painting is signed to the lower right-hand corner. Immaculately presented in a contemporary gilt frame and new card mount. On watercolour paper.

Artist Biography

Sheffield born, Mike Hendy trained as an architect and worked in practice for many years until illness curtailed his career. Having painted as a boy and as a student he decided to take up painting again in his forties, taking great pleasure in tackling the challenges offered by watercolour. His subjects are mainly depict the Pennine landscapes around his home and marine subjects inspired by his annual pilgrimage to the Isle of Wight. In more recent years, becoming more and more fascinated by texture and light, Hendy concentrate on producing still life pieces in watercolour and gouache.

Mike Hendy has been elected a member of the Yorkshire Watercolour Society, the British Watercolour Society and a Fellow of the International Guild of Artists.
