Description
An impressionist landscape painting by Mieze Mardner-Klaas (1884-1950), depicting a tranquil canal scene dominated by a mature tree in full foliage. The artist employs loose, expressive brushwork and a rich naturalistic palette to capture the interplay of light on water and the soft colours of the evening sky. The work is well presented in a gilt-effect frame with black slip. Signed lower right. On canvas.Condition
The artwork exhibits signs of wear consistent with age. Light surface discolouration throughout, including yellowing to the varnish layer. A previous tear to the canvas has been fully restored. Inspection under UV light reveals some previous restoration/retouching. The frame has minor surface wear, including small chips and scuffs. Overall, the artwork presents in good condition.
