An original signed and autographed drawing in pen and ink depicting the world famous cellist Jacqueline du Pre playing the cello. The work is signed by an unknown artist, and later autographed to the upper left by Jacqueline du Pre herself.
This is a unique object, as autographs by du Pre are rare and highly collectible. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the greatest cellists of all time. Her career was cut short by MS, which forced her to stop performing at the age of 28. She died 14 years later at the age of 42.
The drawing captures the movement of play remarkably well, and is presented in a grey card mount and mid century white frame.
On wove.The condition is typical for a picture of this age. Some adhesive staining to the upper edge, with light surface discolouration. Some marks to the frame, and light scuffs.
