A wonderful still life study depicting numerous ceramic objects on a table. They include a plate and spoon, large brown jug, drinking cup, wine bottle and a small vase filled with spherical objects. The artist has used a subdued colour palette with areas of expressive brushwork, used to create depth and interest within the composition. Indistinctly inscribed on the reverse, possibly in German. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Overall the condition is good. With areas of surface dirt. There is some scuffing to the edges of the canvas. The canvas material is fraying slightly in the corners. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered areas of restoration where flakes of paint loss have been overpainted. The work has been carried out to a high standard.
