A striking mid 19th Century classical watercolour scene, showing a dramatic meeting between a pope and bishop, among a crowd of onlookers. An angel flies overhead, having removed the hat of the bishop. The watercolour retains its richness of colour and the painting is on watermarked wove dated 1853.
