Mid 19th Century Watercolour - Chinese Costume Portraits
Description
An exquisite and highly decorative piece. This artwork has been taken from a 19th Century English Victorian scrapbook and compromises of a quartet of vibrant and fine Chinese costume portraits (possibly earlier than mid 19th Century) that have been collaged onto the page and have been given a pretty hand painted watercolour frame of intertwined foxgloves completed with a butterfly in the centre. The overall piece is very pretty and has much fine detail and wonderfully vibrant areas of colour.
The artwork is framed in a gilt effect frame with card mount.
On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing across the surface. There is some abrasion to the pith paper of the portraits.
