She wears a combination of dark velvet, pale satin and lace trim reflecting the romantic aesthetic of the era — emphasising pale skin, sloping shoulders, and a small waist. Paired with her centre-parted, smoothly looped hairstyle, the look is very much in keeping with respectable middle-class portraiture of the mid-Victorian period. Unsigned.
