Mid 19th Century Oil - Landscape For Restoration

Description

This oil landscape has heavy damage and would need to be heavily restored. The scene shows a quintessentially English landscape with a Gothic folly at the top of the right hill and a farm house on the left connected by a bridge over a river. Figures in traditional 19th Century dress can be seen walking along a path. This is a charming painting but in need of heavy restoration. Unsigned. On canvas.

Condition

There is craquelure across the whole surface and large amounts of paint loss to the lower and left hand areas of the canvas. The canvas has come away from the original stretchers on all edges.
