Description
A fine double portrait in charcoal from the mid 19th Century, showing a man and wife in travelling clothes. The woman reads a book while the man gazes outer into the middle distance, as though both are sat in carriage. Possibly the Virgin Mary and St Joseph. The artist has signed illegibly to the lower right corner and the drawing has been presented in a very fine burr wood frame, with elegant gilt ripple molding at the inner window. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some slight cracking to the frame typical for burr wood of this age.
