An interior scene in aquatint with etching and hand colouring of the Czar Peter House in Zaandam, Netherlands. It is best known as the place where Tsar Peter I of Russia resided in 1697 during his Grand Embassy. Zaandam was a renowned shipbuilding district, and Peter had visited the region to learn about Dutch techniques. Fittingly, the old wooden house in which he slept was constructed from repurposed ship materials.
