Michael Davies

With scenes from home and abroad, this quirky collection of observational watercolours by British artist Michael Davies can't help but bring a smile to your face.
Michael Davies

Michael Davies starts his artistic process with just a pencil and paper before working his lively washes into each drawing. Davies treats all of his watercolours as painting in their own right- never preliminary sketches for later oils. On offer we have a wide selection of spontaneous animal and bird scenes by the artist, as well as coastal destinations. It is artists like Davies that challenge us to see the world in a different light.

Davies works in his studio in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, England. He trained at Canterbury College, and later gained a Fine Art MA from Manchester in 1985. Keenly aware of art history and its possibilities, Michael works painstakingly to articulate his view of the world. Davies has pursued his life’s vocation without patronage and the systems of symbolism that sustained them, but he is driven by the same broadly poetic or philosophical impulses.

What does the world feel like? How can paint sing in tune? These are the sorts of questions that come alive in his daily practice.
