An expansive rural landscape painted by the well-listed British artist Michael Barnfather (b.1934). Presented in a large wooden frame with hessian ribbon trim. Signed to the lower left and dated 1970. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Light scuffs to the wooden frame and discolouration to the textile ribbon trim. The oil itself is in very good condition.

Artist Biography
Michael Barnfather is a leading English landscape painter. Born in 1934 in the town of Ilkeston, Barnfather trained at the Derby College of Art before working as a technical artist for Rolls-Royce. Intense, but with a quiet manner, he is most caring about his work, and spends a great deal of time studying the subjects of his landscapes. He has an eye for the fitness of a picture and has applied his talent in the layout of his home and the gardens around his studio. He has submitted his work to various exhibitions and galleries.
