A charming pastel of a nude figure in earth tones sat on a stool in a plein setting. She is facing the viewer with a smile on her face. Well presented in a grey card mount with the artists signature and date to the lower left On board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and a small crease to the lower left of the mount.

We have recently acquired this collection of nine pastel studies of nudes in a range of earth tones with typically contrasting colours by Michael D‘Aguilar. All the works in this collection have been signed and dated by the artist.

Artist Biography
Born in 1924 in London of Spanish parentage, Michael D‘Aguilar spent much of his early life in Spain. He studied at The Royal Academy Schools from 1949 to 1954, winning a variety of awards, including the Leverhulme Scholarship. He was a winner of the Royal Drawing Society’s Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, and the Armitage and Silver Medal at the Royal Academy.
He had successful one-man shows at the Temple Gallery in 1961, New Grafton Gallery in 1971, Southwell Brown Gallery in 1974, Bruton Street Gallery in 1995 and was represented in Bradford City Art Gallery.
